Assisting with the collection of needle aspiration samples Preparing slides by staining samples Using microscopes to examine cellular samples Evaluating samples while following laboratory protocols Calibrating, troubleshooting, checking and maintaining microscopes and other laboratory equipment Entering diagnostic information into computer systems
Receive and prepare tissue specimens for analysis Fix, cut, stain, and mount tissue samples onto slides Operate and maintain laboratory equipment Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and solutions Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and storage of samples and records Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised work area Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities Provide technical support and advice to pathologists and other medical professionals
Collect biological samples (e.g., blood, stool, urine, or tissue) from patients or field environments for parasitological analysis. Prepare specimens using techniques like staining, centrifugation, or concentration methods. Conduct microscopic examinations to identify parasites such as protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites. Perform diagnostic tests, including antigen detection, PCR, and serological assays, under supervision. Assist in field studies to collect environmental samples (soil, water, or insects) for parasitological surveys. Record field observations related to parasitic infection prevalence and transmission patterns. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and incubators. Perform regular calibration and troubleshooting of equipment.
Use microscopes or other lab equipment to examine tissue samples Create a clinical report with diagnosis information and treatment recommendations Conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death Train or assist other technicians in using lab equipment Provide consultation or describe evidence in a court case
